I’m not sure what page of the print version its on, but the article is online here. I don’t remember offering to trade cans of PBR in exchange for people carrying our equipment, but then that doesn’t sound much like something i wouldn’t say, either, so it probably happened.
And just a friendly reminder from your neighborhood Modlins : we are playing at the Adams Ave Street Fair, appearing on Sunday at 1:15pm at the “Rock Stage” on Adams & 33rd. The street fair is two days long, with lots of great bands each day, definitely worth checking out, I think.
What We Can All Do
The other day I received an email from a business colleague that I would like to share. In this email, he talked about how he was having breakfast with a friend. “We had important stuff we needed to talk about,” he wrote. Problem was, there was a TV above and a few feet behind the, blaring out an incessant stream of bad news from the mouths of the anchormen and on the streaming ticker below the screen—you know, the Fed has to bail out another bank on the brink of collapsing, stocks are down, the dollar is weakening, more homes foreclosing, Iran’s nuclear weapons, etc. etc. My colleague said had to get up and walk over and turn the volume down so could have a civilized conversation without that background noise.
That is the perfect screen shot of what all of us have to fight every single day: Gloom. Doom. Negativity. Bad news. Failures. Collapses. Economic Malady. Uncertainty.
All drowning out the conversations that really matter—about life, business, family, the future..
“The world is awash in this dreariness,” my colleague wrote.
Don’t forget glib promises by professional politicians: “Vote for me and I’ll fix it for you.” Or like that old 60s song “Ball of Confusion” says: “Vote for me/and I’ll set you free!”
The Samba-inspired rhythm music game made popular in arcades and on the Dreamcast is shaking its way exclusively onto the Wii! Grab your friends and shake the Wii controllers like maracas to the beat in a variety of crazy enviroments full of zany characters and colorful single and multiplayer modes that keep the party going. With a lively Samba-infused soundtrack packed with over 40 songs and additional downloadable tunes = Samba De Amigo is perfect for gamers of all ages.
Russell, you win this one. I was all like “gamble with Tony Hawk”, and he replies with “go fill out that form and get a FREE burger from Bareback.” So yea, click that image, fill out the quick First/Last Name / phone / email, and apparently, you get an email certificate for a free burger. In the industry, they always say “location location location”, right? Maybe? I made that up, but, this is extra exciting news for us, as Bareback just happens to be the closest Bar, and the closest Grill, to our office. Happy Tuesday.
OK so maybe Ronald McDonald himself won’t be there, but its always nice to see other companies jumping on goodness that we at Ninthlink picked up a month or two ago. Still, what seems like a pretty swell idea, or at least, a neon-filled idea : let your 80s inner child come out and gamble with Tony Hawk and all sorts of members of the VAVI community and StayClassy.org, with proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The entry fee gets you Free Food and Unlimited Beer, there are prizes for Best 80s Costume & Hair, door prizes for the first 100 people, a silent auction, and additional winnings for the top 3 poker players. What more can you ask for? Check out http://www.rmhcsd.org/events.php for all the info!
Sometimes a Group Mind is Better Than One
Today I’d like to discuss the benefits of outsourcing. I’m not talking about phone representatives in India, but hiring a one company, such as Ninthlink, to do a certain long-term project or task rather than hiring a new employee, which most likely will cost a company more in time and revenue.

Today marks the 26th birthday of Emoticons which was first created by Scott Fahlman, a Carnegie Mellon University Professor, who posted a bulletin in response to a message on an electronic bulletin board from the computer-science department. The original use was intended to be used as a marker to differentiate between joke-based bulletins and those that are not jokes in order to avoid misunderstandings. Visit Wired.com to read the original post.
Thanks Scott :-)
