The Museum of Contemporary Art, in LaJolla, is presently exhibiting some of the early works of Jasper Johns. These first sculptures, done in the late 50s, are known as “the Light Bulb Series”. Through these works Johns initiated the idea of viewing everyday objects as art, began the Pop Art movement, and influenced the work of artists like Andy Warhol, Larry Rivers, and Robert Rauschenberg. The show also features all of the drawings and prints associated with this series of sculptures.

The show runs through April. The cost of entry is $10.00. For more information go to: http://www.mcasd.org/

Went to the show yesterday. Awesome. This exhibition is a “Must See” if you are a student of Art History (in general), and or, an admirer of 60s Pop Art (specifically). Go!
