The subject line said “New improved website design. Room ideas, expert advice and more.” The newsletter inside invited me to “Meet the new improved crateandbarrel.com : New design. More ideas. Easier and more fun to shop than ever.” So I clicked, and was greeted with the nice scene. Rad. Those bookcases would be great for our condo. I should tell Arlene… … that they apparently cost $700 a piece. And the grand total of everything C&B wants you to buy to recreate that room? Just $541 shy of $10k. Yea. At least they got my 2 minute pageview that accompanied the Bounce rate +1.

Dangerously inviting…

Haha. I was looking at the redesign earlier too. I’m liking how big and bold everything is as well as the ease of navigation. They’re definitely not afraid of the fold. No matter how good a design, though, sometimes the statistics have to do with other variables (such as the price tag). Just because the “Add to Cart” button takes up half the width of the page, I’m not clicking it to buy a $700 bookcase.
Really like the primary navigation system. Reminds me of what we have been doing lately with the flop out systems for websites like Pencils.com. Love the bold and big image blocks of the user experience. Resonating the price of products. I thought everything on the internet was supposed to be cheap.
