Google’s Crisis Response Crisis Map

Yesterday was the first time I had ever experienced an earthquake while sitting in a movie theater (at least from what I can remember), and today was the first time I learned about Google’s Crisis Response Crisis Map. Coincidence? Whether you want to track Earthquakes around the globe, watch out for Tropical Storm / future Hurricane Isaac, or any of the other items tracked by the GDACS – Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System – that is the place. Someone should use the map & icons to simulate what it would have looked like throughout the course of John Cusask’s 2012…

Facebook Unveils ‘Sponsored Results’ Search Ad Units

Facebook’s latest search ad unit, known as ‘Sponsored Results’ lets advertisers target site visitors as they search for specific pages, apps and places using the site’s main search bar.  As a user searches for a specific entity – a link to an advertiser’s own app, page, or custom tab would show up above the top organic result (what a user is actually looking for) providing an effective way to divert traffic from competitors.

It’s not often I get to review a book written specifically about “Internet Marketing.” So when I get the opportunity, I take the job very seriously. After all, I’ve been in this Industry a really long time now, and I’ve seen and heard just about every type of claim there is about how to “Get Rich Click” on the Web. When I decided I wanted to screen the “Ultimate Guide to Google AdWords, 3rd Edition,” written by Perry Marshall and Bryan Todd, I obviously came into it with an extremely skeptical eye.  352 pages later, however, I have emerged as a changed man.

RapidBlue, a shopping analytics firm recently tested the effects of online ads on offline sales.  According to the study, Google Adwords campaigns increased ‘both brick-and-mortar retail visits and visitor dwell times by double digits’.

Team members are constantly learning new technologies, and are expected to keep up with learning and utilizing the latest techniques and tools in the online marketplace.  We seek a team member that has this drive, the commitment to meet deadlines and deliver quality work, and the communication skills to work with an experienced development team.

If you are a solid developer, self-motivated, and have passion to continue to self-learn and grow with an amazing team, then we can’t wait to meet you! This position will work daily with other programmers, designers, project managers and online marketers.  Candidate should have all experience outlined below, as well as experience writing requirements documents, utilizing online project management software, and interfacing with clients.

Ideal candidates will possess the following skills:

+   5+ years working experience with HTML, CSS, jQuery and JavaScript.

+   Expert in HTML 5.0.

+   Abilities to implement designs from Adobe Fireworks & Photoshop into required code base.

+   Working experience and understanding of Drupal, WordPress and PHP.

+   Working experience and understanding of Magento, MVC frameworks (such as CakePHP), and Subversion Control (SVN) is a plus.

+   Bachelor degree in computer science or work equivalent.

Compensation:
- Compensation of full-time employee with benefits
- Salary based on experience
- Health Insurance and other benefits offered

- U.S. Citizenship or Green card only, no sponsorships
