Saint Vincent De Paul’s Village was started in 1950 as a small operation handing out peanut butter sandwiches to homeless. In 1982, Father Joe of Father Joe’s Villages decided something more was needed than a “band-aid” approach of serving lunchtime sandwiches on weekdays. The opening of the Joan Kroc Center in 1987 marked the beginning of St. Vincent de Paul Village. St. Vincent’s helps people earn GEDs, train on computers, find jobs at Village employment fairs, receive medical and dental care, and take charge of their own destiny. Children learn at the on-site county-run elementary and high schools.

Blanket Drive Almost Finished!
The blanket/towel drive ending date will be expanded to next wednesday. So far we are doing great! We have exceeded our goal of 50 items including many blankets, towels and some cat and dog food as well for the animals at Helen Woodward Animal Shelter. So if you still have items you wish to donate, it is not too late. We will keep the fundraising page open until Wednesday evening as well.
Thanks for all your help!

Psst!—Do you have your 2009 Website Plan Complete?

Elections are just around the corner and everyone is feeling the pinch of economic downturns, but that is no excuse to stop planning and being creative. Tomorrow’s Technology: What Role Does Your Brand Play?
A recent TV commercial has the new CEO of Sprint holding up the latest cell and saying one simple and true line, “It’s amazing we still call them phones.” It’s a black and white ad, set in the Empire Diner in New York City. He then says that technology is useless if you don’t know if it is there or know how to use it. This is an excellent product commercial and points out something so obvious that many of us forget how true it is.
Many of us who are technology fans, and who use the latest gear, gewgaws, widgets, and software in out everyday business and lives, sometimes don’t realize that the majority of people out there are unaware of all this tech, how to get it, how to use it. What does this mean? It means a plethora of potential customers and presents a challenge about how to reach them, how to let them know what’s available.
