Ninthlink Hits the Sand for a Weekend Beach Clean Up

By August 31, 2011 No Comments

In coordination with The Surfrider Foundation and San Diego Coastkeeper, we headed to Pacific Beach and collected more than a pound of trash including bits of plastic, cigarette butts and used band-aids!

The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people through conservation, activism, research and education.  Along with the SD Coastkeeper and some local cleaning ladies, they arrange beach cleanups three times a month on beaches ranging from Oceanside all the way down to Imperial Beach.

In 2010,  633,515 lbs of trash were cleaned up by organizations like these on San Diego County’s beaches.

To get involved with one of these coordinated cleanup efforts all you need to do is show up.
